This year instead of organising a rally as in previous years,
a diverse range of events will be held
in capital cities and regional centres across the country.
Be part of the action.
Please help with postering, recruiting and coordinating walkers on the day (hundreds will be needed for each electorate).  If you would like to get active and involved in making the Walk Against Warming happen this year, whether you have a little or a lot of time, we’d love to hear from you.

In Victoria we’ll be taking the Walk to the suburbs by holding small rallies outside elected MPs offices and carrying out mass letterboxing in four marginal electorates: Melbourne, Corangamite, Latrobe and Deakin.

This approach will maximise the political impact
of the
Walk against Warming
while maintaining a unifying national community call for action.
By doing this our message will reach
400,000 of the most influential voters in Victoria.

Letterboxing: To reach the voters in these key electorates with our safe climate message, please join us for a few hours on Sun 15 August to letterbox.  We know the politicians will be watching these key areas closely, and they will be monitoring how big an issue climate change is for voters.  The more homes and voters we reach with our message, the more our politicians will know that they need to deliver real action for our climate.

Please let us know where
you can do some letterboxing

Please
so that we can coordinate the logistics

  1. We did the Walk Against Warming in Melbourne for my son's second birthday a few years back. It coincided nicely. By the time he was two, he was a dab hand at protests and billboard carrying!

There aren't so many protests here, and we miss them. Walk for us. We'll be thinking of you all.

  2. It is great to get them going when they are young. Mine did. They have protested against rising prices, the Springbok tour and so on. The environment was not an issue back then - or so we thought. Notice the change this year with a marginal electorate focus. La Trobe is marginal for the Liberals and Deakin for Labor so we are trying to make an impression - if enough people support us in the suburbs. Did you see this post further down. http://misseaglesnetwork.blogspot.com/2010/08/environment-victoria-activism-election.html

This blog does not take Anonymous comments. Experience shows that comments cluttered with "Anonymous" are boring and people don't know whether "Anonymous" is one person or many. This is not a decision about freedom of speech. It is a decision about boring or unwillingness to be known by even a pseudonym.
